From Geohashing
Is anybody able to fix this template so that a correct icon does appear? --Reinhard 17:59, 1 March 2012 (EST)
- For the sake of globetrotting, Europe and Asia count as one continent : Eurasia. Therefore, the icon only accepts five bits. If you want this differently, you would have to draw new icons at least. --relet 22:39, 1 March 2012 (EST)
I think it works okay when used on a page, but not on the template page. Is that where you felt it wasn't working? Jiml 19:20, 1 March 2012 (EST)

I'm obviously not goot at this. I created that template when i drew new images after many geohashers decided that they'd rather have Europe and Asia separated. It's now the template used for the examples on Globetrotters Geohash, and it looks fine there. --ilpadre 00:58, 2 March 2012 (EST)

- I totally support extending this to maybe even seven continents. We should maybe decide on a strict definition - or not, as strict definitions just result in that kind of disappointment - imagine someone travelling to Japan, and finding out it's not part of the Asian landshelf. On the other hand, currently people in the transcontinental countries can easily claim two reached continents with one geohash. - You may want to insist on a political division of continents though. Technically, your island is not on a continent at all. The same goes for Japan, which is used in the logo. -- relet 07:03, 2 March 2012 (EST)
