Hay there! My name is Omri, welcome to my user-page, we hope you'll find your stay here comfortable and useful. I'm a sixteen years old geohasher from Neve Monoson (officially part Yehud now days actually), a tiny town in central Israel, not far away from the airport, but far away from any actual mean of public transport. That is part of the reason my hashes usually start form the bigger city of Kiryat Ono, which is also where my school and most of my friends are. Not being old enough for a drivers license yet, I go by bike, bus, train (I love trains!) and walking to the hashes, and drag along Tal and Lilac, friends of mine who are nice enough to come with me to these trips and maybe even enjoy them as much as I do (or maybe they're just saying this to be nice, I can't tell).
I live on the border between the Tel Aviv and the Beersheva graticules, but as the former is mostly sea and the latter is mostly desert, fire zones, Egypt and Gaza strip, it isn't often we actually get a reachable point, so any other graticule that is partly Israeli may one day find us exploring it. Who knows, we may even try to cross the border to an enemy territory for the sake of geohashing. But don't tell anyone, that is top secret.
Geohashing Goals
Though the general plan is chosen by a completely random algorithm based on the DoW, there are a few long term goals I will really try to achieve:
- Get a success (or at least a good attempt) on all nine Israeli garticules (currently have 3 out of 9).
- Take a surprisingly large amount of people to an expedition.
- Have a consecutive geohash involving camping.
- An expedition to a different country.
- Win the lowest and hottest hash together by visiting dead sea.
I'll have to think of a few more...
Expeditions
2012-07-17 31 34: Day trip to Asdod with Tal and Lilac. We also have pizza at the hash!
2012-08-16 31 34: A GPS-free adventure while getting lost at Askelon with Tal.
2012-09-16 32 35: At Forest Segev with Moaz, including a visit to Tel Yodfat.
2012-11-01 32 34: Ditched by Tal and Lilac in the middle, lost at Petah Tikva, wandering at empty fields, tired, hungry and arriving after darkness hours... probably a success though.
1995-11-22 32 34: A luckily placed origin hash at Ramat Ef'al reached by bike on 08/12/2012.
2012-12-14 32 34: Bike riding across Moshavim, fields and orchards to El'ad, grabbing attention of both dogs and children along the way.
2013-01-27 32 34: Was already on my way to Holon, so had a chance for a fun little geohash after school.
2013-03-16 32 35: A trip north to a field near Kfar Kish on the green season.
2013-09-19 31 34: A successful hash at an empty field in Lachish.
2013-12-29 31 35: With Lilac at Beit Zait next to Jerusalem, in which we've had snow, forests, a cave and Velociraptors.
2014-02-18 31 34: Time Warping our way to Rishon LeZion with Aya and Yael.
