From Geohashing

Pandemic

The safety of Geohashing currently really depends on your means of transportation. Sure, if you drive, bike or hike there without meeting anyone, it should be fine. But for me, Geohashes outside of my bicycle range are only reachable by train or bus, and I am currently avoiding those as much as possible. Otherwise, I'd gladly have picked up 2020-03-17 53 9 the day before yesterday or 2020-03-20 53 10 tomorrow. Both are very accessible in tempting locations, but this is a sacrifice I can make. --Fippe (talk) 17:47, 19 March 2020 (UTC)

You raise a great point, and I know Sermoa is in a similar situation to yours at the moment, in Copenhagen. I think you are wise to avoid public transport. I happen to have an electric car, which has helped me get about more without worrying so much about my impact on the environment. However, my main goal in returning to the sport was to get fit, and I'd love to get back on my bike again soon! Sadly, I'm not quite fit enough for that yet, but I'm not giving up. Ironically (given this discussion), I'm actually planning a double hash tomorrow, in Southampton and Brighton graticules! --Macronencer (talk) 19:21, 19 March 2020 (UTC)
Good luck, and stay healthy! --Fippe (talk) 19:32, 19 March 2020 (UTC)
Thanks! Given recent experience with swampland, I plan to bring Wellies this time!! --Macronencer (talk) 21:25, 19 March 2020 (UTC)
