User talk:Wade
This is my talk page. It is where people can talk about me behind my back. Or to me, behind my back.
I suppose I'll delete the contents of this page whenever a particular conversation is done (or whenever I feel like it). E.g. it's not going to be a permanent record. Anything that needs to be saved will be saved elsewhere.
Previous and pointless comments can be found under the "history" link.

Adding Comments
I realize that editing the section you are replying to is the convention on this wiki, but I have no problem stating that everyone else is wrong. Although it does help keep conversations together, I feel using the "edit" link to add to comments is just begging for edit conflicts.
The "+" link will allow you to add a new section to the bottom of the page, and it will prevent edit conflicts. Therefore the "+" approach is better. I suggest that anyone who wishes to add a comment to my talk page click on the "+" link, and comment.
New User experience
Wade, I'm trying to address the concerns you had about the new user experience. Could you visit the main page and see if it is easier to find what you want now? -Robyn 18:35, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
- Hard to be 100% sure, since I may not have same questions now as I did then, but I did ask myself "Is there a good meetup today or tomorrow?", and I quickly found the answer (yes, up north of Pemberton, and yes but I have to get ready to travel so I won't be able to go). So I think it's good. --Wade 18:16, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
You have company
User talk:Relet is also promoting the + sign, but I think he wants replies in the sections. You guys should have your own category. Also, feed the cat. -Robyn 18:17, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
- I thought I was kidding about the category. I should know better. -Robyn 22:10, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
By Jove, You're right
I have created the PlusPleasePeople category to correctly contain all those who think you should use the "+" when modifying their own talk page. Thanks for the suggestion!
- Heh. A winderful idea. I just fed the cat, too. -- relet
Colbert hashing
Last night's Cobert Report (from the 25th) ended with "If you are at latitude 37.718 and longitude -102.656, congratulations, you've won tonight's Cobert Report Random GPS Coordinate Lottery. Just send in a picture of yourself geotagged at that location to claim your prize...". Pity it is an inactive graticule.
No Trespassing
You qualify for the No Trespassing ribbon, under consolation prizes. -Robyn 07:21, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reminder. I've rejected my reality, and substituted yours. --Wade 18:22, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
- What?! You had a different reality? Confused. -Robyn 18:35, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, the original version of my writeup included "Success" and "no ribbon". I replaced that with "Fail" and "new ribbon", because the "facts" didn't actually agree with my reality, and people might think your reality is better just because the "facts" agree with it. Stupid oppressive facts. --Wade 18:45, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
- What?! You had a different reality? Confused. -Robyn 18:35, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
- You two should go for a shared reality! I like "thwarted" over "failed" for the outcome. Jiml 19:40, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
- I agree. "Failed" makes is sound like I was somehow deficient, while "Thwarted" makes it clear that an external malevolent force (like gravity, mud, trees, or a grumpy homeowner) prevented me from doing what I otherwise would clearly have been able to do. --Wade 20:12, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
