It encloses San Diego, Tijuana and several surrounding cities. It consists of about 85% water and 5% of land in Mexico. Therefore, on the frequent days when this graticule's coordinates do not fall on land within the USA, it has been decided to move the default meetup spot 1 graticule to the north, northeast, or east. Of those 3 graticules, the nearest hash point to this graticule which is on land inside the USA is chosen. The image at the left shows the area within which such points can fall. Any geohashers residing on the Mexican side of the border may wish to adopt a similar rule, but shifting south instead of north.

US hashers in this graticule may look to surrounding graticules specifically Santa Ana, Borrego Springs and Tecate, Mexico for achievable hashes. Hashers operating out of Mexico should look to Tecate to the west and Ensenada to the southwest.

See Talk:San Diego, California for the discussion which led to this rule.

The San Diego graticule is at latitude 32, longitude -117. It encloses much of the greater San Diego area and Tijuana. It consists of about 85% water and 5% of land in Mexico. The combination of the geography and population density make it a challenging graticule indeed.

US hashers in this graticule may look to surrounding graticules specifically Santa Ana, Borrego Springs and Tecate, Mexico for achievable hashes. Hashers operating out of Mexico should look to Tecate to the west and Ensenada to the southwest.
