Location

According to google maps the hash was on the side of Bylong Road. In reality it was actually 50 metres south of the road in light bushland.

Report

I decided to go north a graticule for this one since the Bathurst hash fell in a state forest and would've been inaccessible. Once I finally worked out how to use the GPS this was fairly easy and uneventful.

It started with a nice scenic drive along some country roads, passing by some small villages on the way. We hit a small snag when the road decided to go over a hill, as my car does not take kindly to hills. We made it over with the temperature gauge reading about 100C and continued to the hash point without exploding. I actually drove past it at first, I was going 100km/h when we were only 200m from the point (rookie mistake) and couldn't brake in time. Pulled over to the opposite side of the road about 200m past the hash point and proceeded on foot.

We had to contend with a fence, fallen timber, and some spiders on the way to the hash. A raptor nearly cut open my femoral, but I survived. Barely.

On the way back my car decided it didn't take kindly to summer and the temperature gauge climbed all the way to 110C. We decided to stop for half an hour to let the car cool down since I had the unfortunate experience of having a radiator hose split earlier that year (while I was still in the car) and didn't want a repeat of the experience. We did make it back home however. (For the record, the highest coolant temperature recorded was 115C.)
