Ekorren will definitely be there, most probably at 0:00 for a midnight hash. If someone else is going, he might return during the day at a prearranged time for a meetup.

About

The hash is within city limits of Tübingen, on the road between Bebenhausen and Lustnau. Lazy public transport hashers can just take the bus and pass through it on line 826 or 828. Less lazy hashers find a narrow side lane for pedestrians or bikes (but only one of them at a time).

Expedition: Ekorren

The nearest hashpoint I got since I started geohashing, and my 42nd expedition. I had intended to do the 42nd expedition either on geohashing day or on towel day, but this opportunity simply couldn't be missed.

I estimated it would take me about 20 minutes to get there, and wanted a little spare time as well, so I went off shortly after half past 11. What I hadn't really taken into account was that traffic around midnight is something totally different from traffic during the day, and I had to cross all of town. Usually, during daytime, I take a small detour to avoid going through the inner city, this time I didn't. And I actually can't remember when it happened last time that I could go all the way to Lustnau without even stopping once for a red traffic light (most were switched off, anyway) or someone blocking the road. Even with a decent speed.

About 800 m from the hash, I reached the last larger crossroads. While waiting for my light to become green nick_mz called me from the pedestrians lane. We went out into the dark together (now at pedestrians speed) and reached the point a few minutes before midnight.

Averaging several measurements, the point itself appeared to be exactly in the middle of the road. It was not much of a problem to walk on that road as there was surprisingly low traffic at that time. We made sure to be on the road at 0:00, took photos (well, not very many of them - it was actually almost pitch dark there), and finally went into town again.

Achievements

This is a Deja-Vu geohash for Ekorren. He has passed through the hash countless times on the bus between Dettenhausen and Tübingen, and numerous times by bike on the narrow side lane 2 m from the hash. Examples: The tracklock posted for 2009-04-27 48 9 passes on the side lane, and the way to and from 2008-12-27 48 9 both went along that road by bus, so together they even cover all lanes.

Nick_mz probably can't exactly prove it but given that this is one of the main roads into our town, it would be very difficult to live here for some time without passing that hash.

Also it is a midnight hash for both of us.

And a couch potato honorable mention for nick_mz, who lives about half a kilometre from the hashpoint.
