:::Welcome to geohashing! I've been on vacation in Istanbul many years ago and I really liked it, so I am looking forward to reading your expedition reports. Considering the 4-graticule split: Go to whichever hashpoint is nearest to you or most easily reachable, or at the most interesting place. Graticule borders are no hard walls, they are meant to be crossed; A large portion of my expeditions are in the graticule next to mine. But alternate algorithms usually are not that great, because they mix everything up.

::::As Danatar said, go to whichever hashpoint looks most interesting or accessible at the time.  Part of the fun is going to new places, rather than the same old ones yet again!  You'll probably find that most of the time your nearest hashpoint is not actually in the city of Istanbul, anyway.  But wherever you go, let us all know how great it was so that we can be envious.  :-)  -- [[User:Benjw|Benjw]] 21:52, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Well, today's 41/28 is inaccessible. I've changed today's location to 41° 2'27.18"N 29° 0'24.13"E, I'll try to be there by 6 pm.

Seems unlikely that anyone from my area would/could show up, but hey, what the heck. Maybe someone else will read this.

Yes, someone else will indeed read this, but I'm afraid I won't be able to meet you as I'm in the wrong country. But good luck with your expedition anyway! I hope it goes well. It would be nice if you could create an expedition page telling us how you got on -- and, for that matter, who you are and how you found out about hashing. We're all a friendly bunch and look forward to meeting you if we're ever in the same graticule... -- Benjw 13:13, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
Oh hey, hello. I was thinking I'd stay a disembodied, anonymous, invisible narrator of a lonely journey through an alien world. If you'll pardon the drama. Speaking of graticules, I'm doubtful there will be more participants in the future than can be counted on one hand, so it's kind of lame that Istanbul is split up between four graticules... Maybe it would make sense for me to assume they are merged and just go to whichever of the four points is accessible or use an alternate algorithm? Superbest 20:50, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
Welcome to geohashing!
And another thing: You of all geohashers worldwide are in the unique situation that you live at the border of two continents and you only have to cross the bridge to get to Asia. Many of the hashpoints in 41 29 will not be reachable because they fall into the water, but we mid-continent geohashers will envy you for each of the others. - Danatar 21:38, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
As Danatar said, go to whichever hashpoint looks most interesting or accessible at the time. Part of the fun is going to new places, rather than the same old ones yet again! You'll probably find that most of the time your nearest hashpoint is not actually in the city of Istanbul, anyway. But wherever you go, let us all know how great it was so that we can be envious.  :-) -- Benjw 21:52, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
