Nice pictures! One thing I love about reading geohash reports from other countries is that you see photos of things that are not familiar because they are not usually featured in tourist brochures. It gives one an "insider's view" of the country :) I think the English you were looking for might be "weir" (small artificial waterfall) or "sluice" (device for controlling water flow).
