Location

A parking lot, closed for construction, in the middle of Washington, D.C.

Participants

Nathan, Garyuuko, Eric

Plans

Despite it being a Sunday, the coordinates were too good to pass up. A point in the middle of DC, and it managed to fall in an open surface parking lot.

Expedition

Nathan and Eric set out from West Falls Church Metro station sometime around 15:30. Due to slowness of the Orange Line that day, ended up reaching the area around 16:30. Someone holding a laptop was spotted, who turned out to be Garyuuko. Unfortunately, as lucky as the point's location was, the half of the parking lot the point fell in was closed off by a chain link fence for some sort of construction. Negotiations with the guard failed, and we were left somewhere between 10 and 20 feet away from the point. There were, however, trapeze artists practicing nearby.

Retrohash Expedition

Thomcat wanted to see if it was possible to hit this point, the only other attempted geohash within the District of Columbia. I walked up from the Lincoln Monument, past the white house and on to the point - which was under even heavier construction than it must have been in 2009. It's a pity, because the Capitol Brewery is right across the street - no pub geohash today. --Thomcat 09:21, 8 June 2012 (EDT)
