Location

A plot of land on Long Forest Rd (between Melton and Bacchus Marsh, Victoria). A nice little billabong or pond is situated about 200m south of the geohash.

Expedition

After hearing about geohashing, I waited for a day when I had nothing better to do -- Wednesday nights were previously canoe polo nights, I apparently have a knack for choosing outlandish hobbies!

Came home from work, explained to my housemates what geohashing is and that it was going to occupy my night, and it seems they have come to terms with the fact that I tend to engage in odd pursuits so got the typical response of a chuckle and an affirmation that I am nuts.

Left at 9pm, visited a few geocaches on the way (something else that is new to me), found 4 out of the 5 I had planned to go to en route, and got to the destination shortly before midnight.

Result: under 5 hours sleep, tear in my shorts from a pathetic attempt at jumping the third fence I encountered, which was also the point I realised that this probably constitutes trespassing, but not seeing any signs of activity or construction and realising that this was not the time to be an ambassador, I decided I wasn't going to let that thwart my maiden geohash expedition. I will be more responsible in future!

45 clicks or thereabouts with the detours from West Footscray to the geohash
