If I hadn't worked today, I'd have tried for a bicycle hash on this one. But at 9.4 miles (as the crow flies, a bit more by road), it was too far to be practical to bike for an after-work hash. I considered not going, but received encouragement in the IRC channel. So after dinner, I set out driving towards the hash. I found a good spot to pull off the road and leave my car a bit over half a mile from the hash point and set out walking along an irrigation canal which passed quite close to the hash. It was a bit hot, but the sun had dipped low enough in the sky that it wasn't really unpleasant out. Many of the fields I was passing were fallow, or were recently mown hay fields, so I was hopeful that the field containing the hash would be the same. But as I got closer, I saw that it was planted with corn. As I aproached the field, a woman on the porch of an adjoining house (presumably she was one of the owners of the field) waved at me. I waved back, but she never approached me close enough to converse. Once I reached the edge of the field, I saw that there was no fence or other indication that trespassing was not allowed. And the corn was mature, so it wasn't difficult to travel along the rows of corn without damaging the crop (though there were few places where I could move between rows). The hashpoint was about 32ft into the field from the closest edge, but because of the angle at which the corn rows ran, I picked a spot about 45ft from the hash to enter the field. And a few minutes of careful navigation later, I was at the spot. I took a few pictures, then headed back towards my car. On the way back to the car, I posted my success here. In total, it took about 45 minutes round trip to the hash from where I had parked.

Expedition

If I hadn't worked today, I'd have tried for a bicycle hash on this one. But at 9.4 miles (as the crow flies, a bit more by road), it was too far to be practical to bike for an after-work hash. I considered not going, but received encouragement in the IRC channel. So after dinner, I set out driving towards the hash.
