Foggy and freezing (-2 C) and dark (near sunrise time, 7:40) but hardly any light to be seen on the east side. Bit of navigating, but could get my car pretty close (~340 meters) from the hashpoint that was in a field. When I got out of the car I could see that the clay was nicely ploughed, so I changed my shoes for hiking shoes, as I still had to go to work. Crossed the road from where I had parked the car to discover that there was a ditch surrounding the field. One that could be jumped, but... 1) landing would certainly render me muddy, incompatible with a day at the office afterwards; 2) the mist had frozen to the soil, so not entirely safe to do this in a dark and abandoned part where no-one was around to provide any help should anything go wrong; 3) the jump back would need to be started from the chuncky ploughed clay, not the ideal runway.

Sight was less than 50m and could nowhere spot a crossing of the ditch (dam or plank). So walked back and forth a few hundered meters. Still no crossing.

In doubt here how to rate this one: If there was a boat/float/plank or whatever I could have crossed and made it to the hash. Or if I had dared the jump, so it is a chickening out too.

Expedition

JwB earned the My kingdom for a boat consolation prize
by being prevented from reaching the (52, 5) geohash on 2016-01-21 by an impassable and unforeseen ditch.
