Today's hash was located on an island in the river Nederrijn, that I had seen from the road on [[2016-09-18 52 5 | a previous expedition]]. The island is home to a large complex of water management infrastructure, comprising a huge weir system (a barrier to regulate flow), a lock to let ships pass and a fish ladder to allow fish to travel upstream. To get to the hash I would need to cross the lock, though I wasn't sure if that would be possible. In many lock systems the doors also function as a bridge for pedestrians, so it was reasonable to assume that it would be possible here as well.
