Plans
None actually. We just wanted to celebrate on new year's eve, came to talk about how did practically no geohashing this year and went for it.
Expedition
Crankl, Micsnare and B2c decided to party on new year's eve, starting with burgers and beer in one of Vienna's better burger joints, the 'Le Burger' on Mariahilfer Street. They were already in good spirit when they met, looking ahead to a nice evening full of joy and banter. The food was really good and the restaurant surprisingly also served their favourite Xaver craft beer which is generally hard to get a hold of. After having stuffed themselves they ventured on to the Hammond Bar, a neat cocktail bar in the vicinity og B2c's flat, into which they planned to evacuate later on. While they plowed through the cocktail menu, tasting weird stuff like 'liquid sacher cake' or classic G&Ts, they also came to talk about how shitty 2016 had generally been and how they were looking forward to see the year out with a deft kick in the teeth. Around 11pm the talk came to their favourite drunk-talk-topic, geohashing, or the general lack thereof as they didn't went on many expeditions this year. Of course they had to look up this evenings hashpoint and - guess what - it was located very closely to Vienna, just to the east outside the city limits near the airport. Although B2c had gotten rid of the old hashmobile and was somewhat undermobilized (yeah I made that word up;), for the time being he had acquired other means of transport by signing up with one of Viennas many car sharing companies. After a little 'are we really gonna do this?!' they cleared their bill in the bar and grabbed a small BMW near the bar and drove out towards the hashpoint. Of course they were already late and didn't know anything about the hashpoint, but what could possibly go wrong, right? They made up all the necessary stuff on the fly and, although they lost their way near the hashpoint one or two times in between some small alleys, managed to get to the point in time (although B2c decided to take a nap in the dirt, as he overlooked a roadside ditch and scratched his hands. Aah don't you worry, it's just a flesh wound ;). Happy new year everyone!
PS: there were small frozen pools of water in the fields, we just didn't get to take decent pictures because of the bad light conditions.
