Expedition
The Plan
Just off Montward Road. Park at the nearby Dollar General and hoof it over.
The Geohashers
The Adventure
I nearly called off on this one, feeling it would just be another boring one. Erica, in her wisdom, pushed me to do it anyway, and that getting out would help. (It did.)
The ride north into Jacksonville was largely uneventful, save for the few moments of schadenfreude of refusing to let someone in the right lane do 30 over the limit and watching them squirm. We stopped briefly for lunch before reaching the area. Without having a chatty GPS guiding us after the research I did, once we got onto Dunn Avenue, I told Erica I'd know when to turn when we ran into the Ministry of Truth. It may have been the Truth in Love Ministry, but lord help me if I could call it anything else.
We grabbed an umbrella since it was threatening to rain, then went on down the sidewalk. Even with her sprained ankle, Erica opted for the straightforward way of cutting behind the ministry. I was reminded of all the times I'd cut through a neighbor's yard taking the shortcut to school in grade 5. Funny what sorts of things trigger memories. We got to the hash and I got a foot in the ditch as the GPS did the dance without me moving.
I left the Four of Diamonds hastily pinned to a bush in the Dollar General parking lot, largely because of the threatening rain. Never did find out whether or not it rained there.
