I got the train from London to Guildford, then the Bus from Guildford to Merrow, a settlement near the hash. Unfortunately, I muddled the timings of this journey a bit and was slightly late upon arriving at the hash location. Fortunately, TheOtterslider had the grace to wait patiently for me at the location. We spent a while trying to pinpoint the exact hash point, but were unable to get a fix closer than 13 metres despite circling the point many times. We reckon this is due to the large amount of tree cover in the immediate vicinity of the hash. Having said this, given we were well within bellowing distance of any other theoretical geohashers, we decided to consider ourselves having reached the location. Result!
We then went on a little adventure, roaming along a footpath through a nearby field and explored the other parts of Merrow Common a bit. We later exchanged ID info for signing eachother's PGP keys and then TheOtterslider kindly gave me a lift back into Guildford after which we parted ways. All in all, a very well wrapped-up little expedition!
