Plans
2017-12-31: With another ASP hash to close out the year, the plan was to stop by this easy to reach hash by the Stone Tower (here's a short video somebody made about it) and then find a nice hiking trail to take the dogs. However, with the temps hovering in the single digits (3 F as I write this up; about -16 C), it's just too cold to take the dogs on this adventure. I could still go and grab this hash, but that's a LOT of driving for a 'park and go' expedition and I most likely won't want to go for much of an extra walk in those temps. I just can't justify burning that much gas without at least going for a decent hike afterwords.
I haven't stopped at the Stone Tower in years, so I'll probably hit this at some point in the future...but not today.
Retro-Expedition
On 2020-03-19 I found that the day's hash landed very close to the Stone Tower just off the new Bear Paw trail (not sure if this trail was there when this hash in 2017 was active). Since it was so close, I decided to finally complete this expedition. Everytime I drive to ASP, I think about this hash, so I can now say it's done.
After getting to the hash for 2020-03-19, and exploring the Stone Tower for a bit, we made our way down the road toward this Retro-Hash. Getting close, I stepped into the woods and did a short GPS dance to get a successful reading and a couple pictures.
As we were finishing up getting our pictures, I heard an old car coming up the road so we hung out in the woods while they drove by and presumably up to the Stone Tower. After they passed, we made our way back to the road and started back to the car. Passing the Tower, I confirmed they did indeed stop at the tower, but they weren't paying much attention to me as I walked by. Getting to the Bear Paw trail where it crosses the road, I moved onto the North Leg of the trail (from the road), in order to find the Trailhead.
