Description
Taishō Jima (大正島) is the easternmost of the Senkaku Islands (尖閣諸島), the rest of which lie in the next graticule to the west. All of the islands are currently administered by Japan, but both Taiwan and China also claim sovereignty. This dispute is an important source of ongoing friction between the countries.
Taishō Jima is known in Taiwan and China as Chiwei Yu (赤尾嶼), and the Senkaku Islands are known as the Diaoyutai Islands (钓鱼台群岛).
