The geohash was located on the edge of a large clearing, so most of the challenge was in finding a place to cross the creek and then locating the hash. I went upriver some distance to find a small ford, but as a result had to claim a hill that ran up and behind the geohash. The area had been deforested and there was a hay barrack nearby, but no people or animals as far as I could tell. Descending the hill around the east side led almost directly to the hash, and from there it was just a matter of tramping around in the underbrush to identify the particular spot.

Plans

I was driving from northwest GA to Knoxville, TN and noticed this geohash not too far out of the way, so I decided to swing by and visit it. Google Maps indicated it was out in the open, more or less, so the only problem was finding a place to park (in the end I just pulled off the road into a muddy track that had evidently been used for the same purpose before). I came a bit unprepared—in retrospect, a change of shoes might have been useful, as it turned out the geohash was over a creek.

Expedition

The geohash was located on the edge of a large clearing, so most of the challenge was in finding a place to cross the creek and then locating the hash. I went upriver some distance to find a small ford, but as a result had to claim a hill that ran up and behind the geohash. The area had been deforested and there was a hay barrack nearby, but no people or animals as far as I could tell. Descending the hill around the east side led almost directly to the hash, and from there it was just a matter of tramping around in the underbrush to identify the particular spot.
