+ | I was spending a few days with my dad in my grandparents' second home in Zingst. After getting a waffle at Maik's iconic waffle stand, we cycled 9.5 km to this hash, mostly on the Baltic Sea dike. On the way, we stopped and visited Prerow's 18th-century seafarers' church. The last few hundred metres we cycled through the ''Darßer Urwald'', a huge primeval forest that covers almost entire ''Darß'', the central part of the peninsula (though not all of it is primeval). Then, I had to venture just 60 m into the trees to access the hash, which was doable despite the forest (as you'd expect if it's primeval) putting a lot of undergrowth and dead trees in my way. I had to hashdance for a while before locating the correct position. After admiring the untouched beauty of the woods, I went back to the path and my dad and I decided to cycle through the forest to ''Darßer Ort'', a lighthouse near the northern cape of the Darß. | ||

The scenery, however, was slow, and we stopped for a few minutes at a crossing to listen to the forest in silence. After 2.2 km, we reached a main forest path, where I realised that I my umbrella had fallen out of my backpack. I took all the luggage from my bike and went back to find it while my dad waited. Naturally, I had to go back the entire way to the hash, where I finally retrieved it. On my way back, racing across the bumpy tracks, I saw three deer in the forest, and a huge stag leapt across the path and into the forest right in front of me. I was spending a few days with my dad in my grandparents' second home in Zingst. After getting a waffle at Maik's iconic waffle stand, we cycled 9.5 km to this hash, mostly on the Baltic Sea dike. On the way, we stopped and visited Prerow's 18th-century seafarers' church. The last few hundred metres we cycled through the Darßer Urwald, a huge primeval forest that covers almost entire Darß, the central part of the peninsula (though not all of it is primeval). Then, I had to venture just 60 m into the trees to access the hash, which was doable despite the forest (as you'd expect if it's primeval) putting a lot of undergrowth and dead trees in my way. I had to hashdance for a while before locating the correct position. After admiring the untouched beauty of the woods, I went back to the path and my dad and I decided to cycle through the forest to Darßer Ort, a lighthouse near the northern cape of the Darß.
The forest paths were disused and definitely not meant for cycling; we had to cross dug-up earth (presumably by hogs), sand, grass etc. while dodging trees and weeds, and going was slow. I sweat-soaked arrived back at the crossroads, from where we cycled another 6.7 km to the familiar lighthouse.
