Expedition

Danatar

I was in Konstanz (47 9 graticule) for Christmas. The hashpoints over the holidays were cruelly taunting me (2019-12-25 was just across the lake by ferry, then walking 3.5 km, but it was raining; 2019-12-26 was not far either and next to a road I've been on multiple times, but the satellite image showed a solar park, i.e. no trespassing). On the 26th I had to return to Dresden and I had booked a flight from Stuttgart because the train connection is just too long for the whole trip, it's already 3 hours from Konstanz to Stuttgart. On my way to Stuttgart I checked the hashpoint for that graticule because the train connections unexpectedly didn't have any problems so I would be at the airpoint with time to spare. I noticed that the hashpoint would be quite near to the airport and not far from the S-Bahn train line. How could I not visit such an easy spot?

My expedition started at the Leinfelden train station (2 stops from the airport). I just walked down the next street which changed to a field track after the last houses (the main site of the Bosch Power Tools company). I passed some walkers and two tracks later I was at the hashpoint. The spot was at the edge of a harrowed field. As the ground was still wet and I didn't want to carry multiple kilograms of mud into the airport I decided that 3 meters was near enough. After taking some pictures I continued on the field track for the next 300 meters to the first buildings of Echterdingen. There I walked to the train station and took the next train for one more stop to the airport.
