Location

In a field near RN 19 in Santa Fe province, Argentina. Virgin graticule.

Participants

Plans

My family and I were travelling from Córdoba to Entre Ríos through RN 19 so this hashpoint would be fairly easy to reach if it is not on private property.

Expedition

We passed the exit to San Carlos, and took a dirt road South, between fields with cows, common sight in this part of the country. After less than 2km, we discovered that the hashpoint was inside one of the farms.

Having an open gate, we proceeded several hundred meters East, only to be stopped by an electrical wire used to deter cattle from eating the crops. Besides, we saw someone approaching on an enduro bike. Dammit. Everything seemed doomed for the expedition…

Things turned better from that point on. The guy on the bike was a local gaucho (they have been abandoning horses in favor of bikes from a number of years now) was a farm worker, named Héctor, who thought we were lost, and actually seemed relieved when I explained we were in a Internet guided quest for a point in time and space and showed the live map which said we were less than 200 m South from the actual point. Well, maybe he didn't understand it all, but the thing is he agreed to let us pass with a smile. Great guy.

He kindly offered to open the wires for us, so we went another 100m with the car and finally another 100m on foot to reach the hashpoint. Took photos of the place (including one with Héctor) and resumed our trip.

After a couple of km, we stopped to see some ruins of an abandoned chapel on the side of RN 19. Great, sunny and relatively easy hash, for another virgin graticule!.
