In an area of deep dark swamp near Corfe Castle in the Isle of Purbeck.

Having prepared to get the Formal attire achievement the night before, I awoke at 5:30 and kitted up in my best (old) suit. My Dad and I set off in the car at quarter to 6, and headed through Coombe Bissett towards Dorchester and Wareham. Although we had to stop for petrol on the way, we reached Corfe Castle about a half hour before dawn, and turned briefly onto the B3351. We took the turning to Bushey Farm and then left the car near some trees just off the road and set off on foot. Walking past an incredibly lonely house, we joined a footpath through a gate and found ourselves in woodland, surrounded by bog. At this point we started to jog, as we only had a quarter of an hour before sunrise was due, but we were soon slowed to a crawl by having to turn right into what can only be compared to The Dead Marshes from The Return of the King. Luckily, we managed to get to the geohash before the sun appeared above the horizon, albeit by wading through calf deep water, at 7:33, a little after sunrise was due, but there was a decent amount of cloud around. In a suit. And shoes. I threw away those shoes when I got back by the way. Returning to the car was simpler, but by no means easy, as we had another half mile of swamp to cross to get to the other, closer path, which rejoined our original path near the gate. On the way back to the car we encounteered a large male stag, complete with full antlers, which ran away as we walked down the path. Driving along the small country lanes, we also encountered a small cat, which I stopped to pet, desite having divested myself of the lower half of my clothing, (except boxers), due to the large quantity of bog in them.

by finding a cat and stopping to pat it near the (50, -1) geohash on 2012-10-13.

Jand earned the One with Nature Geohash Achievement

by reaching the (50, -1) geohash on 2012-10-13.

Jand earned the Drowned Rat Geohash Achievement

by reaching the (50, -1) geohash on 2012-10-13 despite being thoroughly wet from traversing the Dead Marshes.
