- Support - you think this proposal should be added with zero or minor changes
- Do not oppose - you think it's boring/meh/not for you, but it wouldn't harm to have it created
- Oppose - you have a specific reason as to why this ribbon should not exist (state this reasoning in your comment)
- Needs work - you think the achievement should be created after more significant changes have been made
See Proposed achievements for more information on this process.
This achievement can be claimed if you complete a successful meetup which connects two previously unconnected groups of geohashers (see the meetup graph). If multiple meetups complete the same connection on the same day, all the involved participants can claim this achievement.
The connection must involve groups of two or more people. If a group in the connection consists of only one person (according to the meetup graph), the achievement criteria have not been met. However, all parties will still be eligible for the meet-up achievement. An example of this can be found below to ease confusion.
The achievement is awarded when the graph page is updated, not when the meetup happens. This means if you originally connected two groups in the past but only now add this to the graph once the groups have already been connected by another person, you are not eligible for the achievement. If this was not the case, it is possible that achievements would be unawarded, resulting in confusion and mess.
This achievement cannot be awarded retroactively, so only valid cases after the creation of this achievement should be considered.
Example of an Invalid Claim:
- User A has not met another geohasher before. As such, they are effectively in a group of one person.
- User B has met 3 other geohashers, and is in a large connected group of people, Group 1.
- User A meets User B during an expedition, adding User A to Group 1.
- Since User A's group consisted of one individual, this was not a group of two or more, and so neither User A nor User B are eligible for the Networking achievement in this case.
Example of a Valid Claim:
- User A and User B are now in a large connected group of people, Group 1.
- User C has met one other geohasher and is in a group of two people, Group 2.
- User A meets User C during an expedition, connecting Group 1 and Group 2.
- User A and User C are eligible for the Networking achievement as they connected groups of two or more people. However, User B is not eligible for the achievement as they were not on the connecting expedition.
Proof
Standard expedition proof is required to earn this achievement, alongside:
- A photograph (or convincing story) demonstrating the meetup.
- A note on the sizes of the separated groups (must be 2 or more).
- An updated version of the meetup graph showing this new connection.
