Tapping into my recent string of geohashes doing this one was a no-brainer. It being for a Monday there were a few days of pre-warning that allowed me to sound out some of my geohash-adjacent buddies from around town.
Firstly, my girlfriend Ruth was a solid maybe. Then Lachie of many previous geohashes provided a hearty delayed acceptance. The wider social group heeded the call and each followed their duty to serve: Stevage agreed so long as the surroundings proved entertaining and then Ris announced she would bring her whole family on bikes, including partner Rob, of motorbiked geohashes in Nepal and France (tragically, Ris and kids could not attend).
Lachie met Ruth and I at our place in Kensington after work. We all rode together along the bike paths through the Docklands and over the Yarra River to get to the rail-reserved linear park through which the hash was vertically inserted. I brought my touring bike so I could load my panniers with a picnic rug, a C02 bulb-charged beer growler and cups into which the beer could be dispensed.
As we each agglomerated at the hash vicinity we chatted about our lives, the workings of the world and whether that Mars show on the National Geographic Channel was really stupid. All appropriately and safely socially distanced the whole time of course.
At last it was time to leave - the air cooling below acceptable limits and the hour late - but wait! We had not all actually reached the hash! We lumbered up and meandered nearby to get a good GPS reading, an honoured tradition for all seasoned geohashers, and took photos.
With no further activities scheduled we re-biked and departed, as one, at first, then peeling off individually before only the central hero of this story remained, as is usually the case in this protagonist's experience. Plus his girlfriend Ruth who he lives with.
Here is a route of our trip.
