The Medford graticule is dominated by the rugged terrain and dry forests of the Siskiyou and Southern Cascade Mountains. The Bear Creek Valley, in the graticule's southwest corner, contains the city of Medford and a number of outlying communities. Ashland, Oregon, is famous as the home of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
