Expedition

It's been ages since a hash point landed near enough to my home to make a trip out for it, for all year they have either been in a trespassy spot, or the middle of somewhere impossible to access, so seeing today's location made me happy ... I knew the locality a bit from geocaching expeditions in the past, the sat. map zoomed in to the max. suggested I'd not be invading someone's garden ... and I could incorporate a visit to the supermarket to pick up the odd post xmas bargain, which would be a consolation prize if the hash was obstructed in some way.

After a 10 minute drive in the gathering gloom of a cold cloudy afternoon I arrived, parked 70m away and wandered over to the point, armed with GPS as well as smartphone as I have a new 'phone and it might not play nicely with the app. No problem getting to within 1m according to the GPS, and 'close enough' on the 'phone app, hoorah !

I'd taken along a slice of wood, cut from the base of my xmas tree before putting it in the stand, on which I wrote the basic hash info with a sharpie pen, an organic marker which shouldn't cause any problems as it slowly decays away. Took a few photos of the wood slice, the location, and my hashscot/stunt double, and pondered where best to place the wood. By the lampost which was the closest bit of street furniture to the hash would just mean it got watered by every passing dog, left lying in the grass of the verge it could be a hazard to the mower when the grass is cut, so I took 2 steps across the grass and placed it on top of one of the low road sign posts. Wonder if anyone will spot it before it becomes illegible ?

Very happy to be back reporting an expedition, shame it's been so long that I've totally forgotten all the page building stuff, so apologies if I've messed up !
