Report

Taryn's Report

Google maps had the location as being roughly 4m in and 10m across from the back left corner of the Fujitsu building.

I caught a bus out to Waterloo road, and spotted a woman hiking around and carrying a GPS... obviously a geohasher on the prowl. The buildings weren't letting her get an accurate fix on the coordinates, but the measurements allowed us to find the right part of the building to walk up to.

We thought we'd have to draw an X on the side of the building closest to the point, but we came across a ramp entrance that cut into the side of the building by almost ten metres - right at the appropriate spot!

So we eyeballed the right location and made an X out of sticks (neither of us having the forethought to bring chalk). We then duly commemorated the occasion on film, and returned to a nearby table and chairs to chat and play a game of Fluxx.

We hung around for about half an hour, as we'd seen that at least one other person had said they were coming... but nobody else rocked up... and the skies were darkening. We took off just as the rain came in.

CJ's Report

I had planned to arrive at the agreed meet-up time of 3pm but was out to lunch with friends, and was unable to make it on time. The crazy storm which Taryn and Kate narrowly missed then hit at 4pm so I decided to give it a miss. By 5pm however the skies had cleared again, and seeing as the hash point was only about 5 minutes from my house I thought I'd go check it out (and taking with me a reluctant wife).

I arrived at the front of the building on Waterloo Rd, however there was a security guy around so I thought I'd better not look dodgy and walk up the side of the building with my camera. I took a few pics of the location from a distance of about 50m, but then thought I might be able to get closer via an adjoining building on the Eden Park Dr side.

This option proved much more fruitful and I was able to get within 3m of the exact location (which Taryn and Kate actually made it to!).
