:It's tricky to say where the snow "started", as it was in the trees and on the sides of the road for quite some distance before I had to worry about it impeding my driving. Also, the snow was melting like crazy while I was there; I left my car and started walking around noon, and on the return walk it was easy to see that the condition of the road had changed somewhat. Even some of my own footprints were in the mud, whereas I had originally been stepping on snow on the walk up. If by any chance you're planning on taking the same path (highway 165/mountain meadows road/mowich section road) then the exact coordinates of where the path became ''impassable'' are in the photo. I saved a waypoint at the position I parked my car, and I'm currently tinkering with my GPS to try to get the elevation of that waypoint, but it looks like it will only tell me the difference between my current location and the waypoint. When I can get a satellite lock I'll try to get a more definitive answer, but even if I could get the elevation for that position it might not be helpful because the snow was melting so rapidly. Then again, it's supposed to rain here in Tacoma this weekend so maybe it'll snow in the mountains? - It's tricky to say where the snow "started", as it was in the trees and on the sides of the road for quite some distance before I had to worry about it impeding my driving. Also, the snow was melting like crazy while I was there; I left my car and started walking around noon, and on the return walk it was easy to see that the condition of the road had changed somewhat.
