Today had started out as any normal business working day, except it was bitter cold. We broke the all time low temp of 14F(-10c). There is projected snow flurries at lunch time.

As this geohash is only 1/2 mile out of my way home from work, I thought that I would make the hash on my way home. Later in the day the snow flurries that we were supposed to get later that night became a freezing rain at rush hour 5pm in the evening.

When the rain hit the roads, it became instant ice. I inched down the interstate at about 15 miles an hour to the turn off. I came to a sliding stop sideways(What Fun!) at the end of the ramp where the stop light is. I notice other people sliding around.

I carefully made my way to the geohash spot. I jumped out and took a few pictures. By the time that I made it back to my truck only 3 or 4 minutes later, my door to the truck had frozen shut. I knew that there was going to be problems getting home.

I beat on the door 10 to 15 times with my arm and I was eventually able to open my door. I slowly made my way back to the interstate and then to Norcross. It took me 3 hours to get home driving not more than 20 miles an hour the entire Interstate system.

(Note:) I was the last person that night to make the transition bridge from I-285 east bound to I-85 North bound before the police closed the bridge because of ice.
