Expedition

Scubbo

Unable to sleep the night before a long road trip (from Colchester to Sheffield to visit his younger sister at University), I was dreamily checking hash locations for the next day (I sure know how to live), when I noticed that our proposed route fell close to not one, not two, but THREE hash locations! As I'd never been able to visit a hash before (since I can't drive), this was too good an opportunity to miss!

Unfortunately, since my fellow travellers were orders of magnitude less geeky than I, I was a bit coy about suggesting that they add on a good hour to an already lengthy journey for reasons that would be hard to explain. I only plucked up the courage to venture the suggestion after the turning for the first two had passed. Zounds!

Nevertheless, once the subject was broached, they were surprisingly receptive (though initially a little bemused by the idea). We therefore resolved to turn off ahead to hit the 53,-1 hash.

Once the obligatory "shuffling-around-while-staring-at-a-GPS" had been done, and photos (to follow) had been snapped, we retreated to the car, with far less of a sense of anti-climax than I'd feared. This "spontaneous adventuring" business is fun...

Ooh, ooh, ooh, I got an achievement too!

Achievements

Landgeohash.png
Scubbo earned the Land geohash achievement
by reaching the (53, -1) geohash on 2011-10-30.
