This graticule defeated me once before. So I've been wanting to give it another try. Today's coordinates looked likely to be reachable.
Expedition
The trip to the hash was relatively uneventful. I was able to drive to within 0.25 miles of the coordinates, though the road for the last few miles wasn't great. The weather at the hash was a bit chilly, but above freezing at least.
Had a nice walk the remainder of the way to the hash. Made a marker from sticks, took some pictures, and spent some time looking up at the beautiful night sky. I really like the desert at night. The relative lack of light pollution and dry air combine to make the night sky a much more spectacular view than it is from home. I tried to get some pictures of the stars, but my camera (or perhaps my skill at using my camera) proved to not be up to the task. Saw a lot of jackrabbits and kangaroo mice, but none of them stayed still long enough for a picture.
- Success! Made it to the hash, but no mobile service there, so posting from about a mile away. Full writeup when I get home. -- Eldin (talk) @43.0194,-115.0470 20:56, 8 March 2013 (MST)
