Take the short drive, walk a bit and hope for a harvested field
Expedition
Getting closer to the hash, I realized it was well beyond the harvested field on the next one- which was standing in full crop. Damn. So I aborted, and instead of just turning back, went along the field to take a shortcut to the street. After the one forest path was very thickly grown and misused, I padded along, until it got muddier and muddier. When I unexpectedly sank some 20-25cm into mud and underlying water, I really lost the fun in this expedition... The field was turning into quite a treacherous swamp. I was looking for a safe way out and went in a BIG detour around the fields back onto the main road and back to the car, getting eaten up all the time by gazillions of mosquitos- the air was _solid_ with swarms of those.
When I was back at the car, I changed shoes and hoped I wouldn't faint from blood loss on the way home. Just kidding, but I'm covered in mosquito bites. :(
