Expedition
Today being the first day of my core leave from work(we are required to take 10 consecutive days off), I started one of my bigger projects for the summer. Taking out some large tree/shrubs the previous owners planted. They are over 20 feet tall now, but the first one came out surprisingly easy. I left the other two for tomorrow.
After resting and having lunch, I checked the coords for today and saw they would be easy to get to sitting in a large public park in Lancaster. Since Cayuga creek runs right through there, I decided to take the dogs along too. They would have to stay on leashes in the park, but should be able to play in the creek.
We were ready to go around 15:00 and arrived at the park with one detour. I made the turn into the park one street too early and had to execute a u-turn. Finding the parking area, we walked in the direction of the hash and found a path through the woods that led us next to the creek and in a roundabout way, to the hash. I thought the hash was just in the trees but the GPS lead us to a small clearing where we proceeded to do a long GPS dance. I saw it dip once to under a foot but never got it back under 4. I resigned to accept it even though I crossed the clearing about 5 times.
We then headed back to the creek for some water time. The dogs loved it and we saw some wildlife, but too far away for the camera phone. A couple ducks and a Green Heron. Walking back to the area where we parked, we ran into a young couple who asked about the dogs.
I stopped back at the car because I forgot to grab a pen earlier and we went to find a geocache for a collision honorable mention. It wasn't too hard to find, but someone parked close to it and I had to be careful grabbing it. It was funny because the guy had a dog and a skateboard. The dog loved it and took off, hauling the guy behind at a pretty good pace(in a planned and practiced way).
Anyway, success all around we drove back home for dinner, but grabbed a picture of the park sign for the Tale of Two Challenge as we left.
Tale of Two challenge issued for Como.
