Plans
I have the day off today so I need to run some errands and then I will drive to the geohash with the dogs. It is in the creek-bed and there looks like there will be access a bit upstream where the creek is near the road. However, I'm hoping the hash is on the bank, depending on how it has moved since the satellite pictures have been taken. Another concern is the weather. While we haven't had too much snow this year, we are in a very warm spell so everything that we do have is melting and I suspect the creek will be a bit higher than is typical this time of year. There is also a geocache by the road were I'll be parking and within honorable mention range so I'll also be doing some geocaching too. After all that, I think we will make a stop at some family land in Bliss, NY to give the dogs some extra exercise before we go home.
Expedition
Getting to Springville, I found the road to cross the creek and noticed that I could park by the bridge as there were no No Trespassing signs in that field, but I thought it would be closer if I continued as planned. I turned down creek road, found where I was planning to park, but saw the No Trespassing signs that covered most of this side of the creek. I also saw that the creek wound back and forth creating very steep edges in many places so I would not be able to walk down the edge without trespassing from this side.
Going back toward the bridge, I could see the hashpoint behind the property that was posted, and looking downstream, I could see the same steep sides that would require trespassing to get by. If I was able to do so, I think I could have gotten to the hash as it looked to either be just into the water or on the dry rocky/sandy edge. Oh well, one more to the Posted achievement instead. Knowing I was not going to be successful, I didn't bother with the geocaching and just drove to Bliss where we hiked by one of the windmills that are all along the hills.
