Expedition
This was in woods just north of a popular you-pick apple orchard. We had been here actually picking apples last fall. We had walked all the way north through the orchard to the edge of the woods on that day, putting us about 220 m from today's hashpoint. We had seen people walking on a path into the woods but did not want to carry our bag of apples on a hike to an unknown destination. The discussion page for the Deja Vu achievement indicates this qualifies for the achievement, though I would choose Honorable Mention if it was available. It will take a little digging through photo archives to find proof of our earlier visit but I'll work on it.
Rebekah drove. We tried parking at the school just east of the woods, but found that its parking lot was fenced so we had no access to the woods. We therefore drove back to the orchard store. We walked north through the orchard, following a farm tractor. At the entrance to the woods we found a trail that appeared to lead in the right direction. This morning we had a couple of inches of snow, and since then some adult had walked along this trail pulling a kid on a sled, so it was remarkably easy walking most of the way. The trail was twisty, and we left it a time or two because it wasn't clear it was leading toward the hashpoint any more, but in fact one branch of it passed about 10 m from the point. The weather was mild, several degrees above freezing with no wind, and it was a very pleasant walk.
As we were hashdancing a jogger went by on the snowy trail and we said hello. On the way back we saw tracks that indicated someone had been snowshoeing along the orchard road. We finished our expedition with fresh cider doughnuts from the orchard store.
