Location

On Grand Island, in a field next to an Elementary school

Participants

Expedition

I considered this all day but since I was going into the city (Buffalo) anyway, I decided to go for it. It was just an extra 20 minute drive North after I ran my errands.

I paid my toll to get on the island, and had no trouble finding my way to the school. Arriving at 16:45, the parking lot was just about empty so I had no qualms about parking in the lot.

Looking at the field, I saw it's used as a baseball field or at least had the backstops. Today, it was empty and I could see large areas that had standing water. I hoped that the hash didn't end up in the middle of one of these shallow but shoe soaking areas.

Walking out, I managed to avoid the worst of it and as I got closer, I saw I was going to be close to, but fortunately next to one of the smaller puddles. Initially ariving at the hash, I saw all 0's, but I didn't have the camera ready. Doing a short GPS dance, I couldn't quite bring it all the way back.

Getting my pictures, I headed back a slightly different way hoping I could stay drier, but I still hit a really soggy section and picked up a little more water in my boots; gross.

Success had, I drove back into the city and stopped at a newer brewery for dinner. Its restaurant week so there are good deals all over the region for $20.17 and this one included a pint glass with the burger for dinner.
