Plans

I had originally planned to visit on the same day as 2022-06-02 42 -83, but other errands ran long that day and I didn't have time. It was then filed away into my "when you have an evening free" list.

Expedition

Retro hash, visited on 2022-06-09.

There was a slight chance of rain this evening, I left the house assuming nothing worse than a light drizzle would hit. As soon as I turned the corner and cleared some trees I saw DARK clouds on the horizon, in the direction the wind was coming from. A quick check of the radar showed a solid line of heavy storms were coming my way. I continued around the block a little as a warmup, then headed home to put on something waterproof. I caught a couple drops of rain as I was turning back onto my street.

I got briefly distracted, but was back on the road with minimal delay. Two minutes later and I've barely crossed the main road and it starts raining for real. It quickly begins POURING – I veer back to the main road, I'm going to stick to faster roads until the rain slows.

I'm past the worst of the storm after a few miles. I hop back onto side roads. One wrong turn gets me briefly stuck in some traffic when I'm crossing a main road. The skies clear, the trees even stop dripping as I'm pulling up to the hash point. I park, check the app, take a few steps forward, and I'm there! Quick picture, submit.

I check my waterproof suit to see where/why it leaked (pooling water at a zipper, a common issue) then start back home. I don't take quite the same route, avoiding the traffic from before and staying on side roads this time past the portion I had been sprinting through the storm on main roads.
