Torodeas tries to go there by public transport, leaving Erlangen at 14:55 and arriving at the hash ~16.40 or so.

Expedition

After leaving work, I hopped onto a two busses (293 and 281) to connect up to Erlangen central station. The train I planned for - the one leaving at 14:55 - is delayed by 5 minutes, but since I have a generous connection in Bamberg onto my final bus 963 to the hash, I don't really worry too much about that. And as planned, when we arrive in Bamberg, now with ~10 minutes delay, I still have enough time to easily catch my bus.

However, only a few minutes into my ride with my final bus towards the hash, my plan comes to an abrupt end: As we drive towards a green traffic light, suddenly most cars on the road break to allow a crossing police car with priority to pass. Our bus isn't fast enough and so we hit the car in front at low speed.

There are no injuries in the bus - or, as it becomes clear, in the car - but since both the car and the bus are damaged, the bus ride ends here and we wait for the police. Even as most passengers leave the bus to try to connect to the next bus 30 minutes later, I stay at the scene of the accident until the police arrives. This has two main reasons: First, it is the right thing to do - if you see an accident, you should always check on them and if possible stay until police arrives. You could be an important witness. Second, my plan to reach the hash was already kind of ambitious - I would have to walk 6km in 75 minutes, including the search for the hash. Otherwise, I'll be stuck at a rural bus stop for two hours, and have a complicated connection to get home after that. Even if I managed to get on the bus 30 minutes later, it would be almost impossible to get to the hash and back in time for the earlier, convenient route home. So I decide that it's not really worth my time to press on towards the hash now, and end my expedition in Bamberg.
