I had a Sunday off, and I hadn’t been to Sittard in a while. Perfect for a quick hash, right? I took a train to Sittard and had a good connection in Eindhoven. Having reached Sittard, the train station was pretty small, with not much to do around it. I figured I might as well go for the hash immediately. I walked through the town, marveling at how different Limburg always feels from Noord-Brabant and the rest of the country. Apparently, I was a week early, as the next weekend would be Oktoberfest in Sittard. A square I walked past was already getting ready for it, with beerhalls and other fun buildings.
Reaching the hash was easy. It was on the pavement, next to a small park in a sub-urb. Not that interesting apart from the fact that I had two ladies with dogs next to me, so I couldn’t take all the pictures I wanted to.
After reaching the hash, I walked into Sittard itself. It’s a pretty old town in Limburg. I tried to visit the local churches, but only one was open. It was a beautiful church dedicated to St. Michael. Afterwards, I made sure to have some “vlaai” as Limburgse vlaai is just a great treat for a hash well found.
I walked through the city for a bit, but nothing was open apart from the stores that sold Lederhosen, probably because of Oktoberfest. It was a good day for a hash, especially one this easy.
