Plans

First, there were no plans. But then Beardygrade got word from a friend of almost 20 years ago, who now lives in Leiferde. And only a few hours later he became aware that the geohash for Monday would be only a short distance from Leiferde station. Now, there was a plan in the making. In the middle of the weekend Beardygrade tried to and succeeded in organising a day off. He would set out for the hash and afterwards pay a short visit at Nina and her children. But one of the kids got wind of this plan and asked to be dragged along looking for treasures...

Expedition

Beardygrade made use of the "Deutschlandticket" again, a really valuable flatrate ticket for public transport in Germany, restricted to local and regional buses and trains. Accordingly, he took the NWB RS30 from Oldenburg-Wechloy to Bremen, the RE1 from Bremen to Hannover, and the ENO RE30 from Hannover to Leiferde. There he met with Nina and the children and together they walked into the forest. It was a beautiful walk among pine trees and the occasional birch. At some point they had to abandon the path and make their way on the soft mossy ground strewn with fox holes and bushes of long grass, but mostly quite walkable. The geohash was found using the Geohash Droid app and celebrated with a blurry group selfie. The explanation of a virtual treasure was accepted without any hard feelings and the sounds from the nearby train line were used successfully to navigate back to the station while it started getting dark. Beardygrade was then invited to wine and pasta and only reluctantly left in order to catch another chain of trains (and a bus 310 in Oldenburg).
