I left work and got on the train to ‘s-Hertogenbosch. Grabbed an OV-bike and rode to the hash in somewhat the right direction. I lived in ‘s-Hertogenbosch for 21 years, so I refused to navigate with my phone until I got close to the hash in an area that I don’t know. After crossing the last major road, the path got a lot darker and more surrounded by green. I left my bike on the side of the road when I had almost reached the hash… en immediately saw the fence that was real and still in place. I walked as close to the hash as I could, about 50m away. The fence was barbed wire and in good condition. In an attempt to circumvent the fence, I tried to find a gate that may be open. Grab an OV-bike at the station and go there. Satellite pictures suggest that there might be a fence around the field, but you never know.

Expedition

A beautiful hash. In a field of grass, about a 10 minutes bike ride from a train station and nothing else to do that evening. On google maps, there were some shadows that might indicate a fence. Around the possible fence, a path. But still not completely sure whether the hash itself would be reachable or not.

And in the area I didn't know anymore, I had to make a decision to go left, straight on or right. Left felt wrong and was really dark. Straight on felt right. Sadly this led me into some community gardens and ultimately to a dead end. The way back out was muddy and uneven while the way in had felt perfectly fine. Is this how they trap you into having a community garden?

After crossing the last major road, the path got a lot darker and more surrounded by green. There were a couple of farms to the left and right, giving almost the feel of a tiny little village separate from ‘s-Hertogenbosch itself. As there was nothing in the field, I would not have felt bad about going in. Sadly, the gate was closed and also mostly barbed wire. No way of getting to the hash in an proper way sadly.

The area around it was pretty cool, so I might come back here at some point for a walk. Perhaps by daylight I would ask the farmer for permission to go in. This far after dark I did not feel comfortable doing so.
