The Setup

The story of this hash began when Yvh11a and a fellow Adventurer discovered that they would be in the same town for a weekend and that the Saturday hashpoint was only a few miles away. Faced with the prospect of sitting on a couch watching DVDs, GeoHashing seemed like an appealing alternative.

Expedition

The team set out northbound from downtown Battle Creek, arriving at the nearest intersection a few minutes later. We looked for any obvious signs of other hashers, but (disappointingly) none were to be found. Instead, we discovered an elementary school about a quarter mile (0.4 km) down the road, and, as it was a Saturday, we decided to explore the playground.

Deer

Yep. There were deer. 2008-11-29 42 -85 fourDeer.jpg

Playground Report

This was possibly the most fantastic playground we have ever seen. The playground was separated into four sections, a swingset area, a jungle gym dome, a small playscape, and a large playscape. The large playscape contained:

  • zip lines
  • ladders
  • steering wheels
  • bridges
  • at least nine (yes that's right, nine) slides, including one that gave Yvh11a's teammate a static shock
  • a tire swing
  • and a climbing wall.

The small playscape boasted similar equipment, but on a smaller scale.

Snowball Fight

It was the first real snowfall of the year. This should go without saying.
