Expedition
excellentdude: Since it was a Sunday, we got to look forward to taking advantage of these great coordinates for a couple days. When Sunday arrived, with the help of some unseasonably great weather for mid-November in mid-Michigan, we did just that! The coordinates fell on a nearby golf course, so we could get a walk and a golf geohash.
We left home and walked to the golf course. When we got there, we saw the golf course, and the sign proclaiming it as such, but got a little confused as to how to get in. There was a little construction that obscured the entrance, so we kept walking down the road until we were past the golf course and walking away from it. Realizing something was wrong, we went back and found the entrance behind the construction. Now, my girlfriend and I are not avid golfers. We're not even golfers, really. So we went to the clubhouse and asked if we could access the course to get to the hash without having to play. The man at the counter was quite nice. Not only did he allow us on the course at no charge, he also sold us a cheap golf ball to use for the golf geohash. When he heard we were going to take a picture of it to post on here, he gave us a special Indian Hills golf ball.
Being careful not to walk right through where someone was playing while following the GPS, we proceeded from the clubhouse in the direction of the hash. When we got close to the hash, we found that it was on the side of a hole that three people were playing at the time. A bench near the second tee was close to the location. We sat there and waited for the group to play through. Once they did, we saw there was no one immediately behind them and we quickly made it to the hash. We took all the normal pictures plus the golf ball picture. After that, we were curious about what hole the hash was on, so we walked from where the hash was near the hole back to the tee. It was the fifth hole!
After all that, we walked back home quite satisfied with a great late autumn geohash outing!
