Uhm... get there?
Expedition
We picked up Yakamozfriend on a parking lot and headed to the Autobahn, since the hash was on a named street of Echzell, we simply followed my car navigation system. When nearing the haspoint, we switched to the expedition unit. :) Interestingly enough, at some point on the road it popped up "Coordinates reached" for a second, then kept guiding us to the correct spot a hundred meters on. I parked on the parking lot of some agricultural shed- which we found was decorated with two large (2m across?), rather menacing emblems (Coat of arms seems fitting, actually...) of some bikers' club ("MC" in German). Somehow I didn't want to take a picture of that. Later we found out they had video surveillance. Smart move, maybe. :)
We then proceeded up a grass road, following the gps, which lead us exactly along the fence of a pasture, only to curve to the right at the fence corner... the distances were a bit strange for me, too... then it decided the hash point was inside the pasture at some point. Oookay... So we headed back, after all, we had just walked about 150m. While still debating whether or not this was restriced area by definition we realized the gate was wide open. In my definition that meant that we were absolutely welcome to trample down the pasture as long as there were no animals to be kept inside. We did.
We neared the hash point to about 40m when the GPS unit again decided "Coordinates reached" for a second, before switching back to leading us to the actual coordinates. Eh? Nevertheless, we reached the coordinates, took the stupid grin(TM) photo and headed out the pasture and on to a larger scale walk in the beautiful early spring weather (I know it's not spring, but I am not the one controlling the weather). Two hundred meters on we saw a model plane flyer's club also enjoying the first warm weekend in a while, but my phone cam is too crappy to even try a shot. As it seems to become a habit, again we carried half a field of clay under the soles of our feet that was completely removal-roof. My car looks like a tractor.
