Plans

If somebody wants to meet, let me know. Any time of the day will do. I don't have exact plans. I'll probably do a no-battery attempt, although the satellite images seem a bit outdated.

Expedition

The geohash was located in a park named Venneperhout in Nieuw-Vennep, a village in Holland. It's very close to the the border that seperates the provinces North-Holland and South-Holland.

I planned to do a no-battery hash. At home I drew some outlines of the park on an old piece of enveloppe. When I arrived in the park, it got a bit difficult, because there were more trees than I thought and they were blocking the view to the objects I had chosen as markers in my drawing. After a while, I thought I had figured it out and made a picture of myself at the geohash location. I then turned on my GPS device to see if I was right, and it showed I was 130m off!

Sigh, I mistook the wrong path for a certain line in my drawing.

Well, since I now was in the vincinity of the geohash anyway, I used GPS to get to the exact spot. The park is pretty wide with a lot of grass and low bushes, so it should not be too difficult to reach. Unfortunately, this geohash had to be exactly in a spot where there was an enormous amount of insects having a party in area with very dense trees.

I found an entrance to the party and after practising the ancient art of woodcrawling, I found the lucky tree that marked the spot.

By lack of earning other achievements, I fulfilled the more than 2 year old challenge by Hiro, her boyfriend, Benpicco and Christian to visit a geohash in a place called Holland
