Location

In the inner courtyard of some habitation buildings near Bonner Platz in Munich. It's a private property so authorization to enter will probably be needed.

Saturday's hash seems to be in the inner courtyard of some habitation buildings near Bonner Platz. Maybe would it be possible to ask for entering this inner courtyard? — Zertrin 06:48, 20 October 2012 (EDT)

Expedition

I planned to try to reach today's hash and then join some friends in the city center to participate in the event "Die lange Nacht der Museen" (most of the museums of the city are open today until 2 a.m.).

I departed quite late from home, using the metro to reach Bonner Platz station, which was very close to the hashpoint. From my survey on Google Maps and Google Street View, I was hoping that the big porch allowing cars to enter the inner courtyard would be open like it was when the Google car took the picture. But it would have been too easy, and it was closed. The night was falling, and the only chance left would be that some resident of the building come and allow me to enter the courtyard.

I was beginning to lose hope to be able to reach the hashpoint, and was beginning to walk back to the subway station, when a couple arrived by bike and seemed to be residents. I went toward them and asked if I could enter, trying to explain in a few words the reasons why. They accepted to let me enter the courtyard.

I directly aimed at the point indicated by Google Maps, but GPS reception was poor in this courtyard borded by quite high buildings... I had difficulties to locate the exact spot, that finally appeared not to be exactly located where Google Maps pointed at, but about 3 meters on the right.

The hashpoint reached, I took a screenshot on my GPS device and tried to take a picture with my camera. But as it seems always to be the case in such occasion, batteries were low and I couldn't activate the flash. I only managed to get a very blurry picture of the location before the camera shut itself down...

Finally I headed back to the subway station and met friends as planned in the center of the city to visit museums all night long!
