Expedition 1

I was pretty amazed when I discovered this one - so rarely do hashes appear in gettable locations near the inner city. Mainly, however, I was amused by the irony that Lachie had gone all the way to Gordon, 120kms to the west of Melbourne, to get a geohash and wouldn't be back until the following day - missing the hash 150m from his house. Practically a couch-potato!

I rode my bike in the arvo with my GPS and camera, up along the Upfield train line bike path. Pretty much getting there straight away I did the geohash dance to get the right coordinates, took some photos, then rode to my friends Tom and Miriam's house nearby.

Expedition 2

I arrived at Tom and Miriam's place and told them about the hash. They already knew and were planning to go themselves, so after a beer and a snack, we all walked together across the train lines. Again doing the geohash dance (must be bad GPS reception around there), we took some photos, talked to a curious business owner next to the hash, and walked back. Tom and I tried to rouse another nearby sharehouse (Lachie's place), but everyone was out. I rode off to Blackburn for dinner with my girlfriend.

Here is the route I took, including with Tom and Miriam. Total distance to hash from my place: 3.8kms. Total walk distance from Tom and Miriam's: 380m.

Expedition 3 and 4 and notes from Lachlan

I was out near Ballarat on a ridiculous bike ride for Friday's geohash Arrow2.png 2013-02-08_-37_144 when i found these coordinates 150m from my house but my hash journey would not have me returning home until Sunday. I almost turned back so that i could get the couch potato honourable mention but continued my ride instead and settle for a puppet master couch potato. I called my friend Tom who lives around the corner and my house mates Ed and Acushla asking all of them to do the geohash. Ed is already a geohasher so he doesn't count for the achievement. Tom had been on one hash before as a drag along so was borderline. So i decided Miriam was my puppet. Felix showed up at their house to take them to it but as I told them about it first I'm claiming the ribbon.

Ed went on his own later on and got photos which he will upload at some point.

Acushla went on her own but did not take any photos.
