Location
In a field adjacent to a large metal building, just northwest of Gainesville. Easiest access was from U.S. 82.
Participants
Plans
When I set out for this location from my house about 30 miles to the south at noon, the plan was to make a quick trip up the interstate to Gainesville, reach the location, and return immediately afterwards. Needless to say, things changed.
Expedition
The location was quite easy to reach. It was located in a field of wildflowers between some large power lines and the large, open, metal building seen in the pictures below. I chose to post the poster on some exposed polywood adjacent to the nearest door into the building. Based on the inside (the door was wide open, so I went in and took the panorama you see below), it was constructed fairly recently and is used for livestock auctions.
Upon leaving the location, I realized that the hash for the adjacent graticule was pretty much a straight shot 60 miles east on U.S. 82, and then this happened.
Tracklog
I don't own a self-contained GPS and have yet to find a decent tracklog-capable iOS app. If anybody has any suggestions, feel free to ping me on my [User Talk:Neimster|talk page]].
